COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Suited Up, in partnership with D'Quinta and SOJC, works tirelessly in the community to interrupt the cycles of violence leading to recidivism. D'Quinta, the founder of SOJC, survived 25 years of incarceration. As an ordained minister, community activist, and business owner, he mentors the youth and visits prisons, providing encouragement, hope, and motivation. Living by his favorite Bible verse, his message is clear: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."-Philippines 4:13. There are always brighter days ahead.
FROM IDEA TO REALITY: THE EVOLUTION OF
SUITED UP DMV
The District of Columbia does not have a federal prison. Since closing the Lorton Correctional Complex in 2001, federal inmates have been and continue to be turned over to the BOP to serve their sentence in any of the 122 institutions they operate. This can be as close as 136 miles in Cumberland, MD, to upwards of 2,586 miles in Victorville, California, placing insurmountable financial burdens on inmates and their families.
